Guest workshop facilitators are a driving factor in helping to keep our programming fresh and innovative, while providing varying perspectives on writing, performance and the arts. PYPM has hosted guest facilitators such as Def Poetry Jam poet M'Reld Green, UrbanWordNYC Alum and award winning performance artist Carvens Lissaint, Nationally Ranked Slam Poet Ms. Wise, and Philadelphia Educator, Filmmaker and Activist Nuala Cabral.

Poets, Artists, Educators and Social Activists interested in leading a PYPM workshop should review the below guidelines and complete the Facilitator Form for consideration.

Facilitator Rules:

1. Facilitator must be there at 12:00 and stay until 3:00.

2. Facilitator must follow our workshop structure.

3. Facilitator must send us an overview of your workshop by the Wednesday before workshop that adheres to the structure and details how mentors are to be actively support your workshop.

4. Facilitator must maintain a welcoming, encouraging dynamic with all of our students throughout the workshop.  

Workshop Structure:

1.  12:00-12:45: The workshop facilitator will provide students with an individual prompt while the mentors will coach students on editing, revision, and performance. 

2.  12:45-1:00: Facilitator will provide a state change activity to activate student engagement.  A state change activity is a physical activity to prepare students to actively engage in workshop.  Activities may include improv games, icebreakers, short performance work, yoga, etc. 

3.  1:00-2:00:  Facilitator will provide students with a text and an activity.  Texts can include film, poems, articles, visuals, etc.  Activities can run the gamut from writing to performance. 

4.  2:00-2:40:  Facilitator will provide students with a group prompt.

5.  2:40-3:00:  Showcase and Workshop Close.
