Denice Frohman
PYPM Mentor / Director of Programs
Denice Frohman (aka "Ms. Misconception") is an international poet, lyricist and educator, whose works explores multi-culturalism and the “in-betweeness” that exists in us all. She can currently be seen on TV, radio and print as part of Philadelphia’s city-wide “UnLitter Us” Campaign, which uses spoken word to raise awareness about the impact of litter in our neighborhoods.
Dedicated to improving our community and affecting the lives of young people, Denice Frohman teaches weekly workshops as the co-founder of the Philadelphia Youth Slam League, a citywide effort as part of PYPM, to have a spoken word team in every high school. She has facilitated poetry workshops in youth shelters, high schools, youth conferences and cultural institutions across the Northeast, helping young people use their voice to empower themselves and their community at large. As an alumnus of Urban Word NYC, Denice Frohman brings her experience in youth organizing to further PYPM's mission and mentor youth poets across Philadelphia.
She has shared the stage with Sonia Sanchez, performed in front of the likes of Dr. Cornel West, has been interviewed on CBS3 and headlined shows from Michigan, to New York, all the way to Toronto, Canada. Denice Frohman is also currently a member of the 2010 Philadelphia Adult Slam Team.
