In front of hundreds of attendees packed into the Temple Performing Arts Center, on November 8, The Philly Youth Poetry Movement was one of 25 speakers to present at TedxPhilly, a one-day multi-disciplinary conference to "share ideas that matter." PYPM Executive Director/Founder, Gregory Corbin, and Program Director, Denice Frohman, gave an engaging talk about using spoken word to empower youth, drawing on the work of PYPM over the last five years. Youth poets, Kai Davis and Charmira Nelson, performed "Femininjas" and left the crowd standing on their feet. The second feature performance by youth poet, Alana Gooden, received another standing ovation, after performing a poem about "speaking for the youth." After the talk, audience members turned to social media, tweeting about PYPM's presentation. One member tweeted: "I simply could not get out of my seat fast enough for standing ovation for @pypm215."

PYPM sends a special thank you to TedxPhilly for inviting us to speak about the incredible ways that spoken word poetry is impacting the lives of Philadelphia teens across the city.
